Slaanesh Daemons on the Television

Posted on Posted in Armies

On Friday 16th November I will ( or have been if you’re reading this after its happened) be heading up to Warhammer World to play a game of Warhammer 40,000 on Warhammer TV. I have played on the internet television a couple of times before, the first time was with my Drukhari against Wade Pryce’s World Eaters and the second time was with my Tyranids against Dark Angels as part of the Warhammer 40,000 GT.

This time I will be taking my Slaaneshi Daemons and fighting against my arch nemesis Wade Pryce who will once again be taking his World Eaters. I usually use my Daemons in Age of Sigmar, but have recently been using them in the 41st millennium with mixed success, this outing should be an interesting affair as two forces famed for their close combat prowess clash under the bright lights of the television studio.

Today I’m going to show my hand early and go through the 1500 point (81 power) list that I’ll be taking, and maybe revealing some of my excellent tactics* ahead of time.

The Daemonic Host

Battalion Detachment –  817pts (48 power)

Keeper of Secrets
Warlord Trait – The Murderdance
Hellforged Artefact - Soulstealer
Psychic Power 1 – Symphony of Pain
Psychic Power 2 – Hysterical Frenzy

The Masque of Slaanesh

20 Daemonnettes of Slaanesh
Daemonic Icon and Instrument of Chaos

21 Daemonnettes of Slaanesh
Daemonic Icon and Instrument of Chaos

22 Daemonnettes of Slaanesh
Daemonic Icon and Instrument of Chaos

Outrider Detachment – 638pts (35 power)

Daemon Prince of Chaos
Wings, Warp Bolter, Hellforged Sword
Mark of Slaanesh
Psychic Power - Delightful Agonies

10 Seekers
Daemonic Icon
Instrument of Chaos

The Plan

I have had a couple of games with the Slaaneshi Daemons recently, just to get my head back in to how they play and which units I need near other ones to get the buffs up. My most recent game against the T’au lasted only two turns as I was blasted off the battlefield in super fast time, luckily that shouldn’t be a representation of the game on TV as I’m not expecting the shooting prowess of the Khorne Renegades to be up there with the preachers of The Greater Good.

So what tactics so I have in mind? At time of writing I don’t know what exact list I’ll be up against or what the scenario will be, so these theories may go out of the window when we’re live to the nation. My first choice is to put the unit of 20 Daemonnettes in the void, using one of my 9 command points to drop them in later in the battle, hopefully grabbing that vital objective, or proving themselves to be a useful distraction.

It is said that speed kills and Slaanesh are the masters of swiftness, especially as their Locus of Swiftness allows units to Advance and Charge if they begin the charge phase within 6” of a character. With this in mind I will try and keep my units as close to heroes as I can in order to hit the Khorne before they have chance to thin my numbers. Slaanesh's Quicksilver Swiftness means that they always go first in combat, even if they didn’t charge, meaning that I wont have to sit and watch as my units are smashed to pieces before they can attack. The Daemons claws may be AP -4 on a wound roll of a 6 but if you don’t have many models left, this isn’t going to appear very often.

Well that’s it, I told you I didn’t have many tactics. Just stay alive as long as possible before hitting the Khorne lines with lots of attacks! I’m very much looking forward to this battle, and with there being the chance that I’ll be mic’d up, I’ve been practicing not swearing.

Please tune in on Friday to the Warhammer TV Twitch channel and watch me make a fool of myself, and if you’re reading this after the event has taken place, you can always watch it back if you’re a subscriber, which is either $5 a month or free if you are an Amazon Prime member.

I’ll report back on how it went in the coming weeks, as well as a review of my time at the Eavy Metal Masterclass which I’ll be at this weekend (17th/18th November)
